Responsibilities
The Housing and Development Department is home to the Building Official and Building Inspection. The Department is responsible for ensuring safe, high-quality construction and development throughout the City of Kingsland. The department provides oversight and enforcement of building codes, zoning regulations, and subdivision standards to protect public health, safety, and welfare.
Key responsibilities include:
Building Permits and Inspections
Reviews plans and issues permits for residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects. Conducts inspections to ensure compliance with state and local building codes.
Planning and Development Support
Collaborates with the Planning Department to support orderly growth and ensure projects meet zoning, design, and development standards.
Subdivision Code Administration
Enforces the City’s subdivision regulations to guide the proper layout and infrastructure of new developments.
Department Administration
Manages department operations, recordkeeping, contractor licensing verification, and coordination with other departments to ensure efficient project review and permitting.
