Chief Rickey Evans
Chief of Police - Kingsland Police Department
Chief Rickey Evans was appointed Chief of Police for the City of Kingsland in July 2022, bringing nearly three decades of law enforcement experience to the role.
Chief Evans began his career in 1994 with the McIntosh County Sheriff's Office immediately after graduating from high school. During his tenure, he progressed through the ranks from dispatcher to Captain of the Criminal Investigations Division, gaining valuable experience in both operations and leadership.
In 2002, Chief Evans joined the Glynn County Police Department, where he served until his retirement in 2022. During those 20 years, he held a variety of key leadership positions, ultimately serving as Assistant Chief and Interim Chief of Police. His time in Glynn County was marked by a steady rise through the ranks and a dedication to strengthening community relationships and public safety outcomes.
A firm believer in the principles of Community Policing, Chief Evans emphasizes meaningful engagement with residents, transparency in operations, and proactive strategies to prevent crime and disorder. He views policing not simply as a profession, but as a calling to serve, protect, and uplift the community.
Chief Evans is actively involved in numerous professional and civic organizations, including:
- National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE)
- Fraternal Order of Police
- Prince Hall Masons
- Prince Hall Shriners
He has also volunteered with various community projects and nonprofit initiatives throughout his career, underscoring his commitment to public service beyond the badge.
His professional affiliations include membership in the:

- Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP)
Chief Evans is a graduate of the Department of Homeland Security Leadership Academy and holds the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association's Trilogy Award. He earned an Associate of Science in Criminal Justice from Ashworth College and is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.
