 Chief Rickey Evans

Rickey Evans became the Chief of Police for the new City of Kingsland in July 2022.

Chief Evans has approximately 28 years of law enforcement experience. Chief Evans joined the McIntosh County Office of the Sheriff in 1994, immediately after high school. Chief Evans rose through the ranks from dispatcher to Captain of the Criminal Investigations Division.

Chief Evans served as Assistant Chief (Interim Chief of Police) of Police for the Glynn County Police Department where he was employed from 2002 until his retirement in 2022. Chief Evans was promoted through the ranks of the Glynn County Police Department and served in many challenging, yet rewarding positions.

As a police professional, Chief Evans is committed to the concept of Community Policing as a way to connect with the community in a meaningful way to combat crime and disorder and improve the quality of life for the visitors and citizens of Kingsland. 

Chief Evans believes strongly that serving the community is a calling. Giving back and being involved in the community has always been a passion. As a current member of NOBLE, Fraternal Order of Police, Prince Hall Masons, and Prince Hall Shriners. Chief Evans has volunteered for numerous community projects benefiting various non-profits. 

Chief Evans is a member of numerous professional organizations including the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP). 

Chief Evans is a graduate of the Department of Homeland Security Leadership Academy. Chief Evans is also a graduate of the FBI Trilogy Award. Chief Evans also has an Associates of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Ashworth College. Chief Evans is currently studying for his Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice.
