   The City of Kingsland Invites You to Join Us for Our 4th Annual “Home for The Holidays” Holiday Lights Decorating Contest hosted by the Mayor and City Council members!

   We are looking for the most festive outdoor holiday light decorations in Kingsland! Kingsland’s 4th Annual “Home For The Holidays” holiday lights decorating contest launches this November. Residents and business owners alike are encouraged to show their festive spirit by dusting off those holiday decorations and untangling those holiday lights. The holidays are made for celebrating! 

   There is no cost to participate but registration is required.

   Judging is based on creative design, use of lighting, accents and curbside appeal. Judging will take place  on Dec 11 – Jan 1 between 5PM - 10PM.

   Participation is FREE and open to the first 50 registrants on a first-come, first-served basis. 

   Contest and award guidelines will be established by the City of Kingsland and approved by the City Manager.

5. Guidelines and Categories

   2025 Contest Guidelines

   • Only residences and businesses within the City of Kingsland city limits are eligible. 
   • Registrations will be accepted between November 7th - December 7th, 2025  by 11:59 PM. There is no registration fee required to participate and registration is open to the first 50 registrants on a first-come, first-served basis.
   • Entries will receive a yard sign to display their unique voting number.
   • Official judges will determine winners of "Best of Show". All entries will be voted on for "People's Choice"  via Google Form voting. Submitted images will be voted on via interactions for "Facebook Favorite". 
   • To participate in Facebook Favorite category, contestant must submit an official image of your decorated property by December 7th, 2025 to info@visitkingsland.com.
   • Entries will be judged on attractiveness, creativity and scale of holiday-themed decor on the exterior of a property. Entries will be judged from the curb; decorations must be visible from the roadway. Judges will not enter private property.
   • Decorations must comply with City of Kingsland ordinances and housing codes including loud noise violations.  Decorations should be tasteful and kid-friendly. All homeowners should be respectful of their neighbors when participating in this contest.
   • The City of Kingsland reserves the right to deny any registration for any reason. 
   • The decisions of the judging committee are final.
   • The addresses and photos of all participants will be made public and used for promotional purposes.
   • Judging will take place between Thursday, December 11, 2025 thru Thursday, January 1, 2025. Decorations must be lit from 5:00PM until 10:00PM on these evenings.
   • Winners will be announced in January 2026 and awarded at a City Council meeting.

   Categories

   1. Best In Show: Ultimate Bragging Rights! Whose festive decor will capture the attention of the city's leaders and earn the title of this season's shining star? 
   2. Best Business: Which local storefront will steal the spotlight?
   3. People's Choice: Whose dazzling decorations will leave a lasting impression on the community? 
   4. Facebook Favorite: Whose festive display will capture the digital spotlight?

   Prizes

   The prize bounties will be announced soon! Bragging rights included, of course.

   Purpose

   The purpose of this program is to stimulate and enhance a sense of community and cheer by recognizing residents and businesses that go above-and-beyond in decorating their home for the holiday season.

    • You expressly release the City of Kingsland and any of their representatives from any and all liability whatsoever, or any loss of injury. The organizers and sponsors accept no responsibility for damage, injury, or theft which may occur as a result of your entry.

    • You agree that decorations will be tasteful and kid-friendly. All homeowners should be respectful of their neighbors when participating in this contest. The Holiday Lights Decorating Contest is designed to encourage community spirit.

    • To compete for Facebook Favorite - You must submit an image of your decorated location by December 7, 2025 to info@visitkingsland.com.
