The City of Kingsland reports a 100,000-gallon sanitary sewer overflow into Little Catfish Creek where the creek crosses under Clarks Bluff Road. The overflow occurred on 2/22/2017 due to a ruptured sewer line that crosses underneath Little Catfish Creek.

The overflow was stopped and the City notified the Georgia Environmental Protection Division and Camden County Environmental Health Department of the spill. City crews immediately began cleanup efforts and warning signs have been posted in potentially affected areas downstream. Precautions have been taken to prevent any further release and the City is working diligently in order to make a permanent repair.

Kingsland City Manager, Lee Spell said, “City crews are working diligently to minimize the effect on the surrounding areas.” Area residents have no need for alarm and do not need to take any special precautions.

There are no immediate concerns about negative impacts to ground water or surface water and the City will be working with EPD to investigate any potential longer-term impacts.
