The City of Kingsland Honors and Celebrates this July
July 4th is a special holiday for America; it is after all, the birthday of our great nation. In 1776 the Declaration of Independence was signed by 13 colonies, declaring Independence from British rule and founding the United States of America. The transition from that day of declaration in 1776 to the USA we know today, was far from smooth sailing.
The USA maintains its freedom today, thanks to decades of brave men and women who have devoted their lives to defending this nation. As we gather around to grill-out and enjoy each other’s company this Summer, we cannot forget to honor the men and women who work tirelessly to defend our country, as well as the sacrifice that they and their families make on a daily basis.
The Kingsland community has a long-standing military tie, thanks to our proximity to Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Naval Station Mayport. This means that many of our residents have personal or familial ties to the armed forces. Mayor Grayson Day speaks to the variety that this brings to our local community, "Our community is home to a unique blend of lifelong and short-term residents who have been stationed here due to their military service. Each of these individuals offer something different to our community. It is a great honor that these families who sacrifice so much for our country, call Kingsland home. They play a vital role in our nation and enrich the fabric of our local community through their presence." The City of Kingsland wants to thank all of the active and retired military personnel for everything they do at home and afar.
