On the morning of October 26, 2022, Camden County High School students had the opportunity to view a cautionary tale of drunk driving in their advisory classes. This video presentation was followed up with a mock crash drill that Senior students were able to experience in person, while underclassmen had the experience of watching it live-streamed to the classroom. The event was brought together by several agencies and individuals working tirelessly to312720714_884042132537214_5057635897667327082_n (1) ensure the successful delivery of a message of safety during Red Ribbon Week.

For the last few months, Sgt. Chernich and the Georgia State Patrol have met with representatives of Camden County High School, Kingsland Fire and Rescue, Camden County Fire and Rescue, Camden Sheriff’s Department and Kingsland Police Department to organize this mock drill. Careful organization by CCHS’s Ms. Perez-Lugones allowed for the effortless coordination of the event to transpire while being filmed/streamed by CCHS’s Audio/Visual class under the direction of Instructor David Limbach.

Support of administrative personnel was essential. With the approval of Dr. Tucker, Dr. Loden, Dr. Phillips, and Dr. Slusser scheduled and ensured this event was a success for Red Ribbon Week. Ms. Tara Carter, CCHS Guidance Counselor, sculpted student advisory lessons to incorporate the Red Ribbon week messaging and the mock drill presentation.

“I’d personally like to thank all those involved in the exercise. I appreciate Mrs. Courtney Ray who worked as Camden County School Board Liaison and media coordinator to ensure it was properly documented and that messaging was communicated to the public.” stated Mayor Day. “Special thanks to Judge Sweat, Sheriff Proctor, the men and women of Georgia State Patrol, Kingsland Fire and Rescue, Camden County Fire and Rescue, Camden Sheriff’s Department, Trauma One Flight Crew, Camden 911, as well as Kingsland Police Department. It was impressive to see these teams work together to hopefully leave a positive and lasting impression on our students.”
