Resiliency Implementation Workplan Now Available

WOODBINE, Ga. — June 15, 2022 — Local residents are encouraged to review the new Camden County Resiliency Implementation Workplan (RIW). The plan prioritizes nature-based solutions by identifying and developing opportunities for infrastructure projects to mitigate flooding, storm surge, sea-level rise risks, and other threats to local infrastructure and facilities.

Created with the goal to increase community capacity for resilience, build stronger awareness of adaptation needs and planning, and aid in the implementation of identified resiliency projects, the Resiliency Implementation Workplan (RIW) reflects a robust stakeholder engagement process that was informed by technical expertise and built upon existing efforts and successes in the community.

The plan was created and will be implemented with the help of partners in the seven main geographies (Camden County, Cities of Kingsland, St. Marys, and Woodbine; Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay; Cumberland Island National Seashore; and Little Cumberland Island) and includes a Sea Level Rise and Flooding Vulnerability Assessment and Project Prioritization and Implementation Plan, focusing on nature-based solutions.

This project is funded by a National Coastal Resilience Fund grant through the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
