Camden County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is working to update the Camden County, Georgia Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan.
The updated plan seeks to better protect the people and property of the county from the effects of natural and human caused hazards and to maintain eligibility for mitigation funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). As part of the plan update, citizens are requested to complete a public survey to provide input into the process.
“This is an opportunity for Camden County residents to share valuable information and influence emergency management planning,” said Camden County EMA Director Chuck White. “Although hurricane season receives the most attention, there are many other hazards that impact our community and our planning process.”
The eleven-question survey asks about general preparedness and evacuations. Survey takers are also asked to rate the level of significance of a variety of potential hazards. Additionally, there is an option to mention specific hazards or problem areas.
With assistance from plan consultants, Wood Environmental Engineering, Camden County EMA is updating the five-year Hazard Mitigation Plan. Grant funding is assisting with the cost of plan update. More information is available at: http://www.camdencountyga-hmp.com/index.html.
