[ARCHIVED] Public Notice: Peaceful Protest Planned

Message From the Mayor

PUBLIC NOTICE (June 5, 2020)

There will be a march in the City of Kingsland on Saturday, June 6, 2020, beginning at 1:00 P.M.  The March will start from the Lowe’s parking lot adjacent to Boone Avenue and proceed East on Boone to Middle School Road, crossing Highway 40 to the former K-Mart parking lot.  Travelers on Highway 40 should expect minor delays or consider alternate routes between 1:00PM and 3:00PM.

Lauren Papich is the organizer of the March. Lauren stated “I have received many concerns, as has KPD, about whether or not this would truly be peaceful.  The answer is ABSOLUTELY, 100%. I have full confidence within[sic] both the event coordinators, and the police force, that we can and WILL execute a peaceful protest.”

Mayor C. Grayson Day, confirmed Kingsland’s mission: "A key component of our Council and Mayor’s mission statement is to promote quality and ethical political leadership which will represent a unified community. United support of peaceful protest adheres to this principle. Saturday’s march is an example of our statement in action."
