
City of Kingsland Implements Changes in City Operations to Help Mitigate the Spread of COVID-19
PUBLIC NOTICE (August 3, 2021) - Camden County is currently experiencing a COVID-19 community spread rate that is the highest in the Coastal Health District per capita. Dr. Davis, Director Coastal Health District, GaDPH advised that Camden County infections were higher than any other county within the coastal health district. In light of this information, the city is immediately implementing measures to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. City departments are making operational adjustments to ensure the continuation of all essential City services for residents and businesses.
Access to some City buildings is restricted to employees only. The restriction will continue until further notice. Government services, including police, fire, garbage pick-up and permitting, will continue as usual. Citizens are urged to utilize online or telephone services when possible. If you must do business in-person at a City building, please call ahead to ensure facility access is available. City staff may be working remotely in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and to ensure proper social distancing.
Effective, Wednesday, August 4, 2021, anyone entering a City of Kingsland government building is required to wear a facemask and practice social distancing to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Masks will be made available, if needed. All City staff will continue to aggressively follow CDC guidance to fight the spread of COVID-19.

CITY OF KINGSLAND DEPARTMENT UPDATES
Please call ahead to determine building access restrictions and department operating hours
Administrative Offices and Government Buildings City of Kingsland office buildings may have restricted public access to protect visitors and staff. Critical public services will continue uninterrupted. Citizens are urged to call ahead to ensure operating hours and department staff capacity for in-person greetings. Access to government buildings may have significant visitor limitations and/or is prohibited. Anyone showing symptoms of COVID-19 is prohibited from entering any public building. Additionally, a facemask is required upon entering any city building and social distancing protocols are being enforced. Masks will be made available, if needed. Public access to City Hall is significantly limited or prohibited. Call City Hall at 912-729-5613 to verify department hours of operations and building access. Citizens are asked to make appointments in advance to help keep building occupancy low.

Fire Department To minimize the potential spread of COVID-19, the Kingsland Fire Department offices are closed to the public. All department emergency services and essential operations will continue as usual. However, all public programs are suspended until further notice to ensure the safety of our emergency responders. Municipal Court Kingsland Municipal Court is following state guidance for court dates. Public access is significantly limited. Anyone showing symptoms of COVID-19 is prohibited from entering any public building. Additionally, a facemask is required upon entering any city building and social distancing protocols are being enforced. Masks will be made available, if needed. Planning Department The planning department will be operating fully staffed and will allow limited public access to our office with no more than one person from the public being allowed in the lobby at any time. Anyone showing symptoms of COVID-19 is prohibited from entering any public building. Police Department All employees are working and officers are conducting normal patrols. In order to maintain an operational and healthy police force, the Kingsland Police Department will be CLOSED to non-employees both at 111 South Seaboard Street and the Kingsland Welcome Center in order to maintain an operational and healthy police force. - To file a report, call 911.

The following services are suspended effective immediately: Fingerprinting services, VIN inspections, and unlocking of unoccupied vehicles. When possible officers will take reports via phone call for non-violent offences and general damage to property calls.

Public Meetings Regular City Council meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month at 6:00 PM. Public engagement is a critical component of the civic process. The City Council of the City of Kingsland values the input it receives from members of the public during meetings and has made changes to the format of City Council meetings to make it easier for the public to comment. Meeting links, agenda, and information packets will be posted prior to each meeting on City of Kingsland website HERE. Public Participation for Virtual Meetings Due to current COVID-19 community spread rate, the City of Kingsland is mandating virtual participation for all public meetings via the WebEx platform. Water Utility and Property Tax Bills/Municipal Services Building The Municipal Services Building is open during normal business hours with limited lobby access to the public. Anyone showing symptoms of COVID-19 is prohibited from entering any public building. Additionally, a facemask is required upon entering any city building and social distancing protocols are being enforced. Masks will be made available, if needed. For additional services or information, please call 912-729-9456. Utility and Property Tax customers are encouraged to utilize the online payment center and automated phone system payment options. Credit card processing fees for utility and property tax bills paid online or by automated phone system phone will be temporarily waived. All city payments made by check or money order can be mailed to P.O. Box 250, Kingsland, GA 31548 or placed in drop boxes located at the Kingsland Welcome Center and Municipal Services Building. The Municipal Services Building has two payment drop boxes (one on the south side of the building on William Ave and another on the north side parking lot). |
