Precautionary Declaration of Public Health Emergency by Kingsland Mayor Day

WHEREAS, The City of Kingsland, Georgia acknowledges the World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 a Global Pandemic and Public Health Emergency of International Concern; and

WHEREAS: President Donald Trump declared a Federal Public Health Emergency for the United States of America on March 13, 2020 and subsequently Governor Brian Kemp declared a Public Health Emergency for the State of Georgia on March 14, 2020; and

WHEREAS: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is new and contagious disease that causes severe acute respiratory illness and can spread among humans through respiratory transmission; and

WHEREAS: The Center of Disease Control (“CDC”) has issued guidance on the emerging and rapidly evolving situation of the COVID-19 pandemic including how to protect oneself from this illness; and the CDC currently recommends mitigation measures including social distancing and limiting public gatherings to fewer than fifty (50) persons, and

WHEREAS: Camden County, in conjunction with the Cities of Kingsland, St. Marys, and Woodbine declared a Public Health Emergency March 16, 2020 to allow local agencies to thoroughly prepare for any eventuality related to public health needs and deploy additional resources to assist if necessary;

It is Therefore Ordered:  that the City of Kingsland is hereby placed under a declaration of public emergency. I hereby authorize staff to waive the surcharge for online utility payments, limit public interaction, and close specified offices when necessary while ensuring continuity of operations and service to the public.
