[ARCHIVED] PRESS RELEASE: City of Kingsland COVID-19 Update

KINGSLAND IMPLEMENTS CHANGES IN REGULAR OPERATIONS IN AN EFFORT TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SPREADING CORONAVIRUS

KINGSLAND, GA–March 16, 2020 - The City of Kingsland is changing its regular operations amid the spread of the coronavirus. The impact of COVID-19 on our community requires proactive measures for the protection of the health and safety of the citizens of Camden County.

Water Utility Bills: Processing Fees Temporarily Waived For Online and Phone Payments:  Due to the heightened concerns we are currently facing with COVID-19, utility customers are encouraged to utilize the online payment center and phone payment options. The City of Kingsland will temporarily waive online and phone payment fees for the next 30 days effective March 16, 2020 - April 15, 2020. Kingsland utility payments can be made online at www.municipalonlinepayments.com/kingslandga or by calling 1-866-231-1537. All city payments may continue to be placed in droboxes located at the Kingsland Municipal Services Building and the Kingsland Welcome Center. If necessary, cash payments will only be accepted at the Kingsland Municipal Services Building.

Municipal Court Rescheduled:  To protect citizens and staff, the Kingsland Municipal Court will be re-scheduling the April 1, 2020 and April 13, 2020 court dates. Reset dates will announced at a later time.

Public Meetings:  The Kingsland City Council is currently exploring options to live stream city council meetings and other public meetings that will include a queue for public input. Once implemented, the Kingsland City Council Chambers will be closed to the public.

Public Safety and Essential Operations:  Employees in essential operational positions (police, fire, EMS, water/sewer plant operations) will continue normal operations with the recommended safety precautions in place.

Kingsland Welcome Center:  Due to safety precautions for staff and area visitors, the Kingsland Welcome Center will be closed until further notice.

Non-essential Staff and City Facilities:  If it becomes necessary, the City of Kingsland will be limiting public access to its offices and facilities. Essential city staff will work remotely to ensure continuity of essential operations. All travel and non-essential meetings are suspended in an effort to reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus.

We will continue to use best practices to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 or any other illness. Please follow trusted sources of information, including the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH), and the Coastal Georgia Health District.
