The HomeSafe Georgia program can help homeowners who are behind on their mortgage payments or who owe more than their home is worth. Eligible homeowners can receive up to $50,000 in assistance, provided in a one-time lender payment to bring the loan current or reduce the mortgage balance. HomeSafe Georgia is a free, federally funded program administered by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, to help prevent foreclosures and stabilize neighborhoods.
