Kingsland Home Again Program

After the events of Hurricane Irma in 2017, the 31548 zip code was declared a Most Impacted and Distressed area, qualifying the State of Georgia for disaster recovery funds. As part of the Georgia Department of Community Affair's Homeowner Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program, the City of Kingsland is pleased to offer the Kingsland Home Again Program. This program will offer free home repairs for eligible applicants who are still living with damages to their home from Hurricane Irma.

This program is intended to aid vulnerable households who are still recovering from Hurricane Irma. Through this, the Kingsland Home Again Program will provide safe, secure, and disaster resistant housing for the residents of the 31548 zip code by addressing damaged or destroyed homes. Eligible applicants can receive up to $75,000 in assistance for home rehabilitation and up to $150,000 in assistance for home replacement. This assistance is available for fixed structure homes as well as mobile homes.

Eligibility requirements for the program are as follows:
  • Property must have unrepaired damages due to Hurricane Irma on September 11, 2017.
  • Damaged property must be located within the HUD identified Most Impacted and Distressed (MID) zip code of 31548.
  • The Property is a single-family, owner-occupied structure or an owner-occupied mobile home/manufactured housing unit.
  • Applicant must have been the homeowner at the time of the storm.
  • Property taxes must be current.
  • Applicant must be a US citizen or qualified alien.
  • Household Income of less than 120% Area Median Income (AMI).
The Kingsland Home Again Program currently has an intake center open at 107 S Lee St in Kingsland. Case managers are available to aid in accepting applications for the program and will assist applicants through the process. Our intake center can be reached at 912-510-6201 to schedule appointments.
